The group for the August 7th mission trip to Arequipa, Peru, arrived late last night….minus Rick, Joella, and Darrell. Darrell suddenly had terrible pain in his foot and could hardly walk, went to the emergency and learned he might have his first bout with gout. He and his wife are keeping us covered in prayer. Rick and Joella missed their connecting flights and rebooked for 24 hours later. Thankfully our setup man will be here to meet them at the airport, get them a hotel for a few hours, then bring them back to the airport for the flight to Arequipa early the next morning. The good news is the other 9 members made it safely with all their baggage. That's not an easy feat. Thank you Lord Jesus! After 2-3 hours rest (some slept) in a nearby hotel, the team headed back to the airport for their 6:00am flight to Arequipa. Pastor Moises, Robert Cooley and Pastor Estich will be meeting them at the airport and feeding them breakfast. Robert said the church members have been busy getting the sleeping quarters prepared with new paint, tile in the bathroom, new mattresses set up, and a new hot water system in the guys shower. He also said the church service was packed last night and he met someone he'd evangelized nearly 2 years ago who has since been faithfully attending the church with members of her family. That is really cool.
Please keep the group in prayer about opportunities for evangelism and effectiveness of it, too. The week of ministry is infront of them. I trust God will work in many lives.
