Although I have only been in Peru for 3 days, the experience is already one that I will never forget!  While we have done many amazing things in our short time, there is one experience in particuar that really stands out.

Today we visited a church in Carabayllo in the northeastern area in Lima, Peru.  Our morning mission was to walk door to door and speak with people about the love of Jesus.  This was my very first experience with evangelism and needless to say, I was nervous.  Fortunately, my excitement and desire to serve overpowered my nerves!  I prayed that God would lead us to the homes that would be open to hearing our message and we started on our way.

The first few houses were welcoming and friendly and we were able to hand out tracks and share some prayer, but I really didn't feel like we were meeting the people that God wanted us to speak with.  I thought for a moment and remembered our mission leader (Robert Cooley) spoke with us about the art of "listening prayer".  At that moment I stopped to listen to God and ask him what he wanted our team to do.

After that we knocked on the door of a woman named Ariela.  She said that she knew Jesus and she knew what she would like to know more.  She invited us all into her home and we began to pray.  She asked us to pray for the health of her children and other prayers for her family.  The prayer was very powerful and soon we had a room full of people praying and worshiping!  After the prayer, Ariela asked us different questions about Jesus.  We answered the questions the best we could and also told her that her questions could be answered at the church.  I am so happy to say that she will be joining us at the service tomorrow night!!!  This has truly been one of the most powerful experiences I have ever been a part of.
